Reports produced as part of the team at the Office of Statistics and Information, Government of Alberta.

Canadian Survey on Interprovincial Trade: Alberta, 2023

Office of Statistics and Information, Government of Alberta. Canadian Survey on Interprovincial Trade: Alberta, 2023.

Analysis of Alberta’s interprovincial trade using Statistics Canada’s Canadian Survey on Interprovincial Trade. Alberta leads Canadian provinces in interprovincial trade; the report finds that trade barriers for Alberta businesses are primarily tied to transportation and geographical constraints and to provincial and territorial tax differences.

Profile of Inter-Jurisdictional Employees in Alberta

Office of Statistics and Information, Government of Alberta. Profile of Inter-Jurisdictional Employees in Alberta.

Profiles workers employed in Alberta while maintaining their primary residence in another province or territory. Using Statistics Canada data, the report examines where these workers come from, the industries they work in, and how inter-jurisdictional employment has evolved over time. This type of employment is a significant feature of Alberta’s labour market, particularly in resource development and large infrastructure projects.

Market Basket Measure for Alberta, 2020-2023

Office of Statistics and Information, Government of Alberta. Market Basket Measure for Alberta, 2020-2023.

Examines poverty trends and regional differences within Alberta and across Canada from 2020 to 2023, using the Market Basket Measure as the low-income threshold. The report also reviews methodological considerations in how Statistics Canada constructs these thresholds, with particular attention to the shelter cost component.

Sánchez Pazmiño, D. H. & Marchán, A. (2023). Tres problemas para el análisis cuantitativo de los femicidios en Ecuador. El Quantificador. ISSN 2953-6456.

Using Ecuadorian government administrative data, the article identifies three structural problems that hinder sound quantitative analysis of femicide: inconsistent definitions across institutions, coverage gaps in official statistics, and data quality issues that obscure trend analysis. The piece argues these limitations prevent a clear policy diagnosis of gender violence in Ecuador.
